Both of these paintings require the viewer to sqeeze the attached generator repeatedly for 15-30 seconds. When the viewer has done so, lights on the paintings appear and twinkle for approximately 5 minutes. At first they are bright, and then they slowly fade.

In "the Earth Below and the Stars Above" the starts twinkle, and in "Bird Talk: 9PM" the two birds alternately and erratically light up back and forth.
